Why Your WHY Matters – How to Effectively Increase Your Impact

Simon Sinek is an avid ambassador for living a life of purpose, for living our WHY. He believes in a world where people find fulfillment, impact and a sense of contribution in their work. I believe in it, too.

If we want to create a fulfilling and impactful work experience we need to identify our WHY, the beliefs, causes or purpose that we are passionate about and that make us get out of bed every day. Our WHY answers the question why we and/or our businesses exist, what our purpose is and why the work we do matters to us.

Are you someone who cares about creating a positive impact and making change happen? If so, you will have much greater success at inspiring others and causing action when you include your WHY in your communication and clearly articulate your beliefs and the causes that you are a stand for.

“People don’t buy what you do – they buy WHY you do it.” ~ Simon Sinek

When we communicate our purpose or cause – our WHY – first, we communicate in a way that drives decision-making and behaviour. Our WHY literally taps the part of the brain that inspires behavior. Do you have an idea what your WHY is? How might it affect your life and/or business if you were to communicate it more often and/or more clearly?

In his TED talk about the Golden Circle, Simon Sinek explains the concept, importance and power of our WHY very clearly and effectively. I invite you to listen to Simon’s TED talk below:

…and then, let me know what you think. How can you make your WHY matter? In which way can you apply the concept of WHY to your personal or professional life?

I’d love to hear from you.
